Earns ISO 9001:2000 Certification

Continental Quality Engineering, a division of Continental Design & Engineering of Anderson, Indiana today announced that it has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification from BSI, Inc. , a quality management systems registrar.

Continental began its registration process in mid 2004. As part of the ISO 9001 process, BSI performed on-site assessments, examined Continental's documented procedures, and audited its overall operations. To determine continued compliance with ISO 9001:2000, BSI will periodically conduct routine surveillance audits of Continental Quality Engineering's business operations.

Dick Isom, Continental's Quality Manager stated, "We are very proud of the fact that we had zero audit comments and were 100% compliant with ISO 9001:2000 audit standards during our final certification audit. Our auditor commented she had never seen this high level of compliance during her entire auditing career. "

What is ISO 9001:2000?

The ISO 9001:2000 standards, released in December 2000 as the successor to ISO 9000:1994, is an internationally recognized quality management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). To be certified to the standard, companies must implement a quality management system (QMS) embracing the activities of the company from staff training to taking the instruction from the customer, the design and development of products, the purchasing of materials and services and the delivery of the products and services. This is done using Plan-Do-Check-Act principles and Process Management, demonstrating steps taken to provide customers the services pledged by Continental. Certification to ISO 9001:2000 reinforces to customers through an independent third-party, that Continental operates a QMS in accordance with the standard.
